Ensimmäinen Vuosi / First Year

Ensimmäisenä päivänä, tai oikeastaan viikona, olin ihan hukassa koko ajan. Ja oli myös vähän sellainen olo että haluanko oikeasti edes olla siellä, kun ala ei oikein vielä sillon kiinnostanut. Olin nimittäin alunperin hakenut valokuvausalalle, johon en sitten kuitenkaan päässyt. Joka, kuten myöhemmin tajusin, oli oikeastaan todella hyvä. En kuitenkaan olisi ollut valmis muuttamaan pois kotoa, vaikka olenkin jo kahdeksantoista...

Kuitenkin, ensimmäisenä päivänä meidän piti tehdä/piirtää muutama kuva jonkin tietyn tyylin vaatteista. Ja pareittain. Jo pelkästään tuo "pareittain" sai tehtävän kuulostamaan tyhmältä. En ikinä ole ollut kovin hyvä työskentelemään ihmisten kanssa joita en tunne. Ja en tuntenut ketään meidän luokalta vielä silloin.
Mutta jouduin kuitenkin samaan ryhmään luokkamme vanhimman oppilaan kanssa, ja teimme jostain 1900-luvun puolivälin tyylistä sen tehtävän. Nyt kun ajattelen taaksepäin, se ei näyttänyt mitenkään hyvältä, ainakaan minun osaltani, koska en osannut piirtää vaatteita tai ihmisiä ollenkaan.

Ensimmäinen viikko kuitenkin tuli ja meni, ja siitä selvittiin jotenkin kunnialla. Luulisin.

En nyt rupea tässä luottelemaan mitä teimme, kun nehän näkyy tuolla alapuolella...



Kuitenkin, minun mielestäni mukavin työ oli se pehmolelu, koska oikeastaan se susi on yhdestä tarinasta jota kirjoitan kaverini kanssa. Ja oli kiva päästä tekemään se. Olen vaan nyt hukannut ne kaavaat johonkin kuuseen, eli pitäisi piirtää uudet jos haluaisin tehdä sille sudelle kaverin....

Olisi kyllä kiva, jos ensi vuonna saisimme taas tehdä jonkin tuollaisen pienen työn, jossa saa valita itse mitä tekee. Voisin sitten tehdä samanlaisen suden, mutta van valkoisen, jolla olisi siniset silmät.


Koko vuoden aikana olen oppinut paljon vaatteiden valmistuksesta ja materiaaleista. Taisin jo muutaman ensimmäisen viikon aikana oppia niin paljon, että olin äitiäni fiksumpi kun ompelusta puhutaan. Hänessä ei oikein ole ompelijan vikaa..

En minä kyllä mikään paras ole, kun oli ainakin semmoinen parin vuoden tauko yläasteen käsityötuntien ja ammattikouluun menemisen välissä. Kävin nimittäin kokeilemassa lukiota siinä välissä, mutta se ei oikein ollut minun paikka. Liikaa läksyjä.... Ja tuon tauon, ja minun osaamisen vähyyden takia ratkojaa tarvittiin paljon.

Lopussa kuitenkin selvisin ihan hyvin koko vuodesta.

...Ja tähän loppuun voisi vähän laittaa mietteitä opettajista, kun siihen saatin meidän opettajalta ihan lupakin. :D

Materiaalitietoudessa meillä oli aluksi sijainen, joka oli tosi mukava. Parempi kuin se oikea opettajakin, oikeastaan. Hän osasi hommansa, ja oli muutenkin kaikin puolin mukava ihminen. En oikein tykännyt siitä kun kuulin että hän oli sijainen. Mutta onhan se nykyinenkin opettaja ihan  mukava. Ei ole liian tiukka ainakaan, mikä on hyvä.

Meidän oma opettajamme on kaikin puolin hyvä. Mukava, hyvä huumorintaju, ei liian tiukka, jne. Oikein valittamista tai aihetta kritisointiin ei nyt heti löydy.

Ja tässä tämä nyt sitten taisi olla. Eli hyvää kesää jokaiselle joka tätä saattaa lukea. :)

On the first day,  or more like the first week, I was pretty much lost. I wasn't even really sure if I was in the right place, because I'd wanted to go to study photography, but I didn't get there. And this was the second option, where I then ended up as I didn't get to photography. Which, as I later realised, was a good thing. Because I wouldn't have been ready to live on my own, even if I'm eighteen already.

Anyway, on the first day, we had to do/draw a couple pictures of a style of our choice. And in pairs. Just that "in pairs" made the whole thing seem stupid  to me, because I'd never been good at working with people I don't know. And I knew no one from our class back then.

But anyway, I ended up doing it with the oldest student from our class, and we did it about some style from 1950's or something like that. And now that I think of it, it didn't look good at all. At least not on my part, because I couldn't draw people or clothes back then at all.

Anyway, the first week went by, and I made it through okay, I guess.

I'm not gonna list what we did here, though, 'cause you can see it all in those other texts, below.



Anyway, in my opinion, the nicest thing I did was the plushie. Because, in fact, the wolf is from a story I'm writing with a friend. And it was nice to get to do a plushie version of it. I've just lost all the plans I made for it, so I'd have to do them all over again if I wanted to make a friend for the wolf.

Though it'd be fun if we could do something like that again next year, where we can choose what we wanna do. I'd do another wolf then. Only this one would be white, and with blue eyes.


During the whole year, I learned quite a lot of making clothes and the materials used in them. I think that during the first couple of weeks, I learned enough to make me smarter than my mom when it comes to sewing. She's never been that good at it.

I'm not the best one either, as I had a break of couple years between 9th grade sewing classes and getting to vocational school. I tried out high school during those couple years. But it wasn't really my thing. Too much homework.
And because of that break, I wasn't so good at anything we did, and I had to re-do quite a lot of stuff.

In the end, though, I survived the whole year pretty well.


And now, I could put some thoughts of our teachers here, since we got a permission for that too.

In material classes we first had a substitute teacher for a month or two. And I liked her. She knew what she was doing, and knew how to explain things so that we'd get it. She was really nice. I didn't like it at all when I heard that she was just a substitute teacher, and that the real one would be coming back soon.
But the current teacher is pretty nice too. She's not too strict, which is good.

Our own teacher who's with us mostly, is really nice. She's got great sense of humour and she's not too strict either.
There's really no reason to complain and nothing to criticize about.


And I think this is pretty much it. I wish a nice summer for anyone who's reading this. :)

Puvustusprojekti / Costume Project

Me tehtiin myös pukuja yhdelle teatterille hääteemaiseen näytelmään. Jokainen meistä teki yhden puvun, joista suurin osa oli mekkoja, joita emme olleet vielä opiskelleet. Se oli vähän hankalaa sen takia, ja osalla aikataulu petti, kuten minulla, ja sitä sitten ommeltiin tauoilla ja tuntien jälkeen.

We also did some costumes for one theater to a wedding-themed play. Every one of us did one costume, which of most were dresses, which we haven't studied yet. So this project was a little difficult because of that, and many of us didn't get it done according to the schedule, like me, for example. And then we sewed it during breaks and after classes.

And here's the dress I made.

Ja tänään minä kuulin, että se, jolle minä tuon mekon tein, tykkäsi siitä. Eli minä olen tyytyväinen.

Kuitenkin, itse mekko on tehty tuulipukukankaasta, ja tuo takki oli joskus pitsiverho. Eli tässä oltiin vähän luovia materiaalien kanssa.



I heard just today that the one I made that for, liked it. So, I'm glad.

In any case, the dress is made of fabric that's mostly used in jackets, and the little jacket used to be lace curtains. So we got a little creative here.

Kauluspaita / Dress Shirt

Meidän piti tehdä kauluspaita jollekin asiakkaalle, ja minä tein sen isälleni. Suurin osa meidän luokkalaisista teki paidat toisilleen, mutta kun minä en pidä kauluspaitoja niin paljon, tein sen jollekin muulle.

We had to do a dress shirt for someone else than ourselves, and I ended up making one for my dad, since he wanted me to. Most of the girls from our class made shirts of each other, but as I don't wear dress shirts that much, I did it for someone else entirely.

Sain siitä hyvän arvosanankin, joten olen kaikin puolin tyytyväinen. Ja isänikin pitää siitä, joten kaikki meni hyvin. Vaikka aikataulu ei oikein pitänytkään, ja menin ompelemaan sitä tauoilla aina kun mahdollista, nyt kun mme opiskellaan äidinkieltä ja matikkaa ja sellaista. Mutta nyt se on kuitenkin valmis.

I got a pretty good grade from this as well, so I'm overall quite happy with it. And my dad likes it too, so everything's good. Even though everything didn't go as planned, and I had to go sew it during breaks now that we're studying finnish, maths and stuff like that. But it's done now, anyway.

Taitajat 2014

Me käytiin tosiaan Taitaja - kisoissakin, ja ajattelin nyt sitten kirjoittaa siitä tännekin, kun kerran otin siellä niin paljon kuvia.

So, we went to the Taitaja -competition, and I thought I'd write about it here too, since I took so many pictures there.





Siis, siellä oli ihmisiä melkein kaikilta aloilta mitä vaan voi ammattikoulussa opiskella.

So, there were people from pretty much every single area of work you can study in school.
There were chefs...

Ja hirveesti kaikkee muuta. Mutta nyt tulee kokoelma epämääräisiä asioita mitä siellä oli.

And a hell lot of other stuff. But now it's time for the collection of random things I saw there.

Ja siinä se sitten suurinpiirtein olikin.

And that's pretty much it, then.

Huomioliivi / Safety Vest

Eli, tämä huomioliivi oli ryhmätyö, ja tämä työ oli yksi suurimmista projekteista mitä teimme koko lukuvuonna. Jokainen ryhmä teki yhtä monta liiviä kuin jäseniä, eli jokainen periaatteessa teki yhden kokonaisen liivin. Vaikka ei se ihan niin oikeasti mennyt. Jokaisella oli oma osa-alue, ja minä tein taskut. Tästä työstä annettiin ihan kunnon arvosanakin, jos oikein muistan...

So, this safety vest was something we did in a group, and this was one of the biggest projects we did this year. Each group had to do as many vests as they had members. So, in theory, everyone had to do one vest. Even if it really didn't go like that. Everyone got some part of the vest, and I had to do the pockets. It wasn't very difficult, though. And we got a real grade from this too, if I remember right.

 Kaikkiaan työ onnistui hyvin, ja ihan aikataulussakin vielä. Vaikka meni se kyllä vähän tiukalle, kun ihmisiä oli kipeänä, jne.

In the end, the whole project went pretty well, and we managed to get it done in time too. Even if it was a bit close, as people were sick and all, and couldn't come to school.

Raitahame / Striped Skirt

Seuraava työ oli hame, ja meidän täytyi tehdä se jollekin muulle kuin itsellemme. Ja minä tein sen äidilleni.

The next thing we had to make was a skirt, and we had to make it for someone else than ourselves. And so, I did it for my mom.


Tässä on muutama (pieni) kuva hameen kaavoista. Jos noista nyt saa mitään selvää, niin siinä on kaavat kahteen taskuun ja sitten itse hameeseen.

Ja tässä on valmis hame, ja muutama yksityskohta siitä. Toisen taskun sisällä on pienempi tasku puhelinta varten äitini toivomuksesta.

And here's the finished skirt, and a few details of it. Inside one of the pockets, there's a smaller pocket for a phone, since my mom wanted it like that.

Susi-pehmo / Wolf plushie

Tämä oli ensimmäinen työ jonka tein. Opettaja antoi meille vapaat kädet, ja saimme itse valita mitä tekisimme, kunhan se ei olisi mitään liian monimutkaista. Ja minä sitten päädyin tekemään tuollaisen pehmolelun. Olin muutenkin ajattelut että haluaisin jonkun tuollaisen.

This is the first bigger thing I did. The teacher let us do whatever we wanted, as long as it wasn't anything too complicated. And this apparently wasn't, then. I ended up doing that plushie, because I'd wanted something like that for a while already.

Tässä on luonnos, jonka aluksi piirsin vain huvikseni vihkooni tunnilla, kun oli vähän tylsää, mutta sitten se päätyikin työni luonnokseksi.

There's the sketch I drew in the beginning for fun only, when I was a little bored during class. And then it ended up becoming the model picture for my little plushie.

Ja tässä on sitten valmis tuote. Olen aika ylpeä siitä, kun se on kuitenkin ensimmäinen pehmolelu jonka olen tehnyt. Nyt vaan pitäisi löytää ne kaavat tuolle, jotta voisin tehdä toisenkin... Mutta kun pitäisi siivota mun kaappi koulussa ja en jaksa tehdä sitä. Ainakaan vielä.

And this is the finished product. I'm pretty proud of it, since it is the first plushie I've ever made. Now I'd only need to find the plans for that, so I could make another one too... *sigh* But I'd need to clean my locker at school in order to find it, and I'm too lazy to do so.

I'm a 19-year old girl from Finland who's studying the clothing business. So, basically, I'm learning how to make clothes. But anyway, I live in Jyväskylä with my family and our cat. And this is a blog for my studies, so I'll be posting here pretty much anything I can get done at school.

And... If anyone's wondering about the name of the blog, it comes from a little joke me and my cousin came up with. We came to the conclusion that I must be a vampire, since I don't like being in the sun much. And also, our cat's name's Tiger. :D
